I had 3 students who had their work published in The Mandala. Here are two of them presenting a signed copy of the book to our superintendent Mr. Petersen.

Kristen had her second piano recital today. The recital's are held at Sarah Harding home in the chapel. This is nice in that it isn't near as large as the sanctuary of a church, plus many of the residents enjoy coming down for the recital. She did a nice job. It was fun to compare how much she has improved in the past year.

The calendar says May 28th, but the weather says November, December. I really want spring to come.

Here is my pile of carpet pieces. I still have a little ways to go before I am done, but the majority of the carpet is up. Now I just need large garbage pickup week to come.

Tonight was the 4-H clubs annual project fair. Even though Kristen is not quite old enough, she was allowed to participate in the projects. One of the projects was apple pie making. Kristen was thrilled to be able to do this. She is trying so hard to learn to bake. Tomorrow night we will bake her pie and we will enjoy it for desert with some Ice Cream. Yummy

Sarah has finally gotten a cell phone. She has been asking for one for a while, but I wanted to wait until she was 16, but then decided that before she left for Hawaii this summer. She ended up getting it earlier than planned as we were able to get a discount through school, but in order to get the discount, I needed to increase my plan. She was so excited to be given the phone.

I am now wearing reading glasses on top of bifocal contacts. I am not sure that I like getting old.

I spent the first day of my spring pulling up the carpet in the Living Room. This turned out to be a much harder job than I expected. I was hoping that this job would only take two days, but it looks like it is going to take a bit longer. Hoping to be done before I go back to school next week.

My girls have two different ideas about dressing up. Kristen loves to wear nice clothes and skirts or dresses, Sarah on the other had throws a fit if we make her wear anything but an old pair of jeans and an old stained t-shirt. By the way she is not allowed to wear that to church, but she does try. If only we could find a happy medium.

Kristen competed in Awana games today. This was the first time for her to be in Awana games. She played in Sparks O Rama for two years, but wasn't able to her last year as there wasn't enough for a team. While the team didn't do well, Kristen had a good day.

Because of Kurt's and the girl's schedules, we rarely get to eat at the table as a complete family. We were able to both last night and tonight. Tonight was Mexican night with make your own fajitas. Yummy.

Kristen had worn the St. Patties head stuff to school on Tuesday and had forgotten to put it away. The next thing we knew is that Sox's had found it

Looks like Spring is finally coming. I have tried to plant flower bulbs in this flower bed before with no luck. Last fall the choir was selling some bulbs, so I bought a package of mixed bulbs for Kristen to plant. She really wants to carry horticulture as one of her 4-H projects. Great project, except not exactly one that Mom can help her with. She took the time to plant all of these bulbs last fall. I think there was around 50 different bulbs all together but don't remember for sure. I was really hoping that for her sake the bulbs would grow. Imagine how thrilled I was to discover several different plants just poking through the soil tonight. Looks like at least one person in the family has a green bulb.

Tonight was the 4-H basketball Tournament. Minnehaha and Mohawk combined to form a team. Sarah's team didn't do too well. They lost both games, but more importantly they had fun playing.

Every year the band and chorus department at Clinton sell fruit. This is some of the best oranges ever. We actually have a hard time eating the oranges purchased in the store after having these oranges. We have been without since the first of January, but today the spring orders came in. What a better snack than a nice juicy orange after school or before bed.

Tonight the youth groups from Grace had their annual Lasagna dinner. Sarah was assigned the 4-6 shift for serving. Here she is waiting on another table. For her first time, she did a nice job. Maybe I should have her apply at a few restaurants in the area?

Went Scrapbooking at church tonight. I am really thrilled with how this layout turned out. This is the first high school pictures that I have done for Sarah. Since she was both a freshman cheerleader and the manager of the varsity football team.

Today I choose a picture of Sarah doing her least favorite chore. She hates dishes. I have told her that as soon as she can master dishes, she doesn't have to do them nightly.

My church sponsored a scrapbooking retreat this weekend. Even though I didn't get much sleep, I was able to get 9 pages completed, several others almost done (just need to print off some pictures) and had a great time. Can't wait to do it again.

Kurt and I both took a personal day today. We have some errands that need to be taken care of in Davenport. Since we were home, we decided to walk Kristen up to school. Dad was even so nice as to drive Sarah to school earlier this morning.

We had a party at school today. One of our 5th year students finally completed her work and graduated. The principal sprung for the cake. Hope this encourages others to finish also.

Sorry if this grosses you out, but I had to post it. This is the first time in over a year that I have had a full toenail on my big toe. I had an infection in the toe that lasted about a year and resulted in the nail being removed twice. It took over a year to grow back, but it is finally fully grown.
